Weather cancelled us out for March, but we’re ON this weekend for our first club drive.

I'm sure many of us are dying to get our cars back on the road after they (and their drivers) have been hiding at home during the winter. So, for those who may be interested here is a relatively short day drive THIS Saturday, April 12th, which the weather forecasters say will be a nice spring day with temps in the 70's!.
We'll meet at noon at the northwest corner of the intersection of S Sierra Madre St. and W. Cimmaron St in close proximity to the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Museum in downtown Colorado Springs. For those who haven't been to downtown Colorado Springs lately, or ever, you can come down earlier in the morning for breakfast/brunch at the many restaurants in the area, window shop, sightsee or visit the Pioneer Museum which opens at 10 AM on Saturdays and is free Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum - CSPM. (NOTE The Olympic Museum also opens at 10 AM with tickets costing $24 person) USOPM | U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum - Colorado Springs
USOPM | U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum - Colorado Springs
After a very short drivers' meeting, we will depart at 12:15 and proceed west on Cimmaron St (which becomes US 24) all the way to Woodland Park and the intersection with CO 9. From there we'll travel north past Deckers and then turn towards Foxton and the backroads to Conifer. We'll then travel east on the backroads past Chatfield State Park and onto US 85 then south to Sedalia. From there we will proceed further south on CO 105 to Palmer Lake and back to Colorado Springs on the Big Slab (aka I-25). Total distance is approximately 150 miles and about 3 hours driving time if you do the complete loop. For folks coming from the north, I would suggest they drive down to the Springs on CO 105 before the start of the drive, and then they can drop off the route at any point they wish to get home or wherever they may choose to go. No rest, food or gas stops are planned.
If you would like to go on the drive, just meet at the starting point at noon on Saturday. No need to RSVP.
