As you may have already heard, LOG 43 will be held in the Hill Countryjust outside of Austin TX from September 27 th through the 30 th 2024. I have been involved with the local committee from the beginning and I believe this will be a top-level LOG from the location and facilities, to the events and organization. The local group has some wonderful plans that remind me of the last LOCO LOG in 2015.
I have volunteered to plan a group drive to the LOG beginning Thursday September 26 th with an assembly spot just south of Colorado Springs on that morning. We’ll arrive at the host hotel around mid afternoon on the 27 th with plenty of time to check in and get ready for the welcome reception.
The route is planned to avoid most Interstates with the exception of I-25 from the Springs to Raton, NM as it is the only realistic way to get south. I have planned an overnight stop in Snyder TX and a route on some of the very best roads in Hill Country from Fredericksburg to our host hotel in Bee Cave, TX.
While the route may be further refined, I expect us to depart from Love's Country Store, 5505 Travel Plaza Dr, Fountain, CO 80817 at 9:30 on the 26 th. This means you will need to add the travel time from your home to the rendezvous spot to arrive by 9:15 or so for a prompt departure. Our first day will be a pretty long slog to Snyder of about 550 miles and the loss of one hour as we enter the central time zone though there will be some options for stops of interest if that is the will of the group. That is for a later decision. On day two of the trip we will only have about 325 miles and they will all be on two lane roads.
