Hey dudes and dudettes of Lotus Colorado,
Get ready for a gnarly two-day drive event starting on July 20th. We're talkin' 80 miles of sweet curves between Ted's Place and Walden, Colorado via Poudre Canyon Road. The event's called "Driving To The 80s," but chill, no need to bust out your neon leg warmers, cuz we're just driving to the 80 miles of twisties.
We’ll kick things off at the Conoco fuel station on Washington Avenue in Golden at 8 AM, aiming to hit the road by 9 AM. We'll cruise down Coal Creek Canyon Road, swing through Nederland, jam up to Ward, and loop around to Jamestown before chowin' down at Smokin’ Dave's BBQ in Estes Park.
Post-lunch, we’ll head northeast on Devil's Gulch Road to Glen Haven, then cruise toward Masonville with a pit stop at Masonville Mercantile. Next, we'll head northwest to tackle the twisty Rist Canyon Road. After rolling around the east end of Horsetooth Reservoir, we’ll check in at the Comfort Suites Near University in Fort Collins. Once we're settled, we’ll cruise over to Victor Holtorf’s pad, High Mountain Classics, to check out a rad collection of exotic cars. Then, it’s off to Totally 80s Pizza & Museum for some righteous eats—this joint’s got a 4.7 out of 5 rating on Google, dude!
The next day, after shaking off that pizza-induced carb coma, we’ll hop out of bed and hit the road by 8 AM. The club will make a beeline to Poudre Canyon Road, dodging any Sunday drivers. We'll then shred 80 miles of the raddest Colorado curves, with a totally picturesque stop near The Crags Campground. After snapping bazillions of pics that we'll probably never look at again, we'll cruise to Walden for a pit stop and fuel up. With full tanks and empty bladders, the Lotus crew will drive down Highway 125 through Granby. We'll cut north on 34 into Grand Lake for some mondo lake views and lunch at Charlie's Sports Bar & Grill. After chowing down and reminiscing about the killer drive our buddy Chris Lindley put together, we'll say our goodbyes and head home.
