LOCO Fall Drive

Here’s a proposed drive that will work for multiple constituencies. The Colorado Springs and environs participants will start off early, perhaps 8 AM and make their way to Woodland Park to begin this loop. Anyone who wants to meet there should be at the Valero, 520 US-24, Woodland Park, CO 80863 by 8:30. From Woodland Park the initial group will head north on Co 67 to Pine Junction where those from the Denver Metro area can join in at about 9:00 and head west on US 285 to Jefferson where the mountain men can join in around 10:15 or so. After a brief meet up at the Jefferson Market, 38600 US Hwy 285, Jefferson, CO 80456, we can then attack Tarryall Road with the entire group, all the way to Lake George and on to Lunch at Maggie’s, 300 E Bennett Ave, Cripple Creek, CO 80813.

After lunch we can drive a short bit to see the highlight of the whole day: Rita the Rock Planter!

Once we have met Rita, we will drive back up CO 67 to Divide where the mountain men can turn west on US 24 to home and the rest of us turn east back to Woodland Park. From there the Denver folks can continue north on CO 67 while the Springs contingent heads back down Ute Pass to Home. This will be a wonderful day out with a destination most of you will not have seen yet proving there is always something new even on roads we’ve travelled so many times.
