For those who may be interested, we have organized a day drive for Sunday, June 12th. Detailed drive instructions are attached,in the email that was sent to club members however here is a brief synopsis:
1. Start Point for folks in the Colorado Springs area will be the Conoco gas station at the corner of Garden of the Gods Rd. and Chestnut St. We will depart from there at 8:30 AM and proceed via I-25N and CO 105 for 44 miles to the Conoco station in Sedalia at the intersection of CO 67 and US 85 (Santa Fe Dr.), where we will rendezvous with folks from the Denver area.
2. We will then depart from the Sedalia gas station at 9:30, and continue north for 5.7 miles on US 85 to the exit for Titan Parkway and N Rampart Range Rd. and CO 121 and follow those roads for 9 miles around the south and west side of Chatfield Reservoir to the intersection with Deer Creek Canyon.
3. We will then turn left and follow Deer Creek Canyon (and then High Grade Rd. and Pleasant Park Rd.) for 17.8 miles to Conifer and the underpass below US 285 S.
4. From Conifer we will join US 285 S for a short 0.3 miles to the exit for Foxton Rd. and then proceed 10 miles into the village of Foxton and the intersection with SW Platte River Rd.
5. From Foxton we will continue on SW Platte River Rd. and Deckers Rd. for 19 miles to Deckers and the intersection with CO 67 S.
6. From Deckers we will stay on CO 67 S for 23 miles to the intersection with US 24 in Woodland Park. We will stop in Woodland Park at one of the restaurants for lunch. I will pick a place once I have a good estimate of how many people will be on the drive.
7. After lunch we will continue east on US 24 back into Colorado Springs to this morning's starting point. Folks returning to the Denver area can then continue north on the route we used this morning to Sedalia or any route that is most convenient for them.
Total distance for the drive is about 150 miles and about 3 hour an 30 minutes driving time for the round trip. Folks in Colorado Springs should be back by 1:45, and those going back to Denver by way of Sedalia should get back there by 3 PM.
