WHO? Any current LOCO member (we don’t care what kind of car you drive, but hey it is a Lotus drive so showing up in a “non-Lotus” will result in some ribbing.)
WHAT?: A three day, two night roundtrip driving tour.
WHERE?: Roads through northwest Colorado, northeast Utah and southern Wyoming. Separate starting points from Denver or Colorado Springs with a rendezvous point at Edwards, CO west of Vail, then on to the Dinosaur National Monument and then to our first night stay in Vernal, Utah. The next day we will go north out of Vernal through the Flaming Gorge along the Green River to Rock Springs, Wyoming and then east to our next night stop at Rawlins, Wyoming. The last day will be south out of Rawlins to Saratoga and then across Snowy Range Pass to Walden, Colorado and then east along the Cache la Poudre River into Fort Collins/Denver. Total roundtrip distance from Denver is about 920 miles, add about 160 miles for Colorado Springs participants.
HOW MUCH?: No charge, just pay for your own gas, food and lodging.
DETAILS: Blocks of rooms have been reserved for LOCO at both Vernal and Rawlins at reduced rates. For Vernal, call the Holiday Inn Express (435) 789-4654 and identify yourself as a member of Lotus Colorado and they will give you the $99 rate (exclusive of taxes). Don’t call the national toll free phone number, they won’t know what you’re talking about. Cancellations can be made up until 24 hours in advance at no charge. The hotel will hold our block of rooms until May 19th. We have reservations Friday night at the Vernal Brewing Company for dinner.
For Rawlins, CO call the Hampton Inn at (307) 324-2320. Use the same instructions as above for their $99 room rate. We have reservations at the Aspen House restaurant for dinner on Saturday night.
Exact route details will be posted by late April.
